Have to re-login each time I launch the app + duplicate events

Hi there,

Virtually every time I launch ReminderBridge, especially after a reboot, I have to log into my Google account again.

Also, tasks that I create in the Reminders app with a due date are showing up in duplicate in Google Tasks. If I delete the duplicate, both copies are gone.

Is it the app, or have configured something incorrectly?

Rob

Follow-up: Am I to understand from other posts that events should be created in Google and NOT in the Reminders app? If so, I’ll remember that for future use.
But I’m still concerned about the login issue…

Hi Rob!!

I was facing something similar to this, and after removing the app and erasing it’s data folder (Library) the issue was solved.

Here’s the thread with instructions: Not syncing with Google Workspace

I followed the tips, but I still noticed the following:

  • If I create a task in Reminders, it shows up as two tasks in Google Tasks; and
  • Although it was still logged in when I booted up this morning, I noticed just now that Reminder now shows no lists to sync (they were there this morning.

This is precisely the kind of app I need so I would love to get it working properly for me.

@rcostain Thanks for the post (I have been out of town for a couple of days), and I’m sorry you’re running into these issues.

The duplicates sound like a case where the sync data may have become corrupted. I can help you reset that so it starts clean. Believe it or not, I sometimes create this same issue when testing before release because I try to break the sync to catch problems early. I recommend the “nuclear option” to get a clean slate:
1. Deselect any list currently selected.
2. Delete the list in Apple Reminders.
3. Sign out (bottom right of your screenshot).
4. Uninstall ReminderBridge and make sure this folder and its contents are deleted: ~/Library/Containers/aeriform.ReminderBridge (you may need to empty the trash).
5. Reinstall from the App Store.

Regarding the missing lists, that can happen after a long shutdown. The Google Tasks API requires the access token to be refreshed on a regular interval (about every two hours). If the refresh fails, the app may appear logged in but will not have access to your lists. Unfortunately, I have not found a reliable workaround for this, as the only Google API that handles this differently is the Mail API.
